meditative kinetic wind sculpture
42'' Ripples (orange fusion)

Mark White ~ Sante Fe, NM ~ sculptor
Mark White creates kinetic sculpture designed to encourage, facilitate and enhance meditation.  We first saw his Dreamcatcher Series while visiting the Texas coast and knew it was a must for our gallery.  Mark's sculptures are made with stainless steel structural elements and hand worked copper blades. They are precisely balanced to respond to extremely light winds, yet strong enough to withstand 100 mph winds.  His exhibit is a permanent display at our gallery.  If you purchase one of his sculptures or fountains, it will be shipped directly to your home. To learn more about Mark's work go to www.markwhitekinetics.com .

Jim La Paso ~ Kyle, TX ~ sculptor
In Jim's own words: 'I plan to dedicate the rest of my time here on earth designing kinetic art using every mechanism I can invent or find. From opposing pinwheels to pendulums to George Rickie's conical movement. I hope you enjoy what I have done so far and visit me from time to time to see what I come up with in the future..' See incredible examples of Jim's work at our gallery and at www.lapaso.com .

Feathered Birds (3 way)

Jim Sullivan ~ Sedona, AZ ~ sculptor
Jim Sullivan has spent countless hours studying leaves and flowers, then re-creates them in copper, red and yellow brass, bronze, silver, iron, lead, and stainless steel. His wind sculpture designs are balanced for weight and wind acceptance for maximum rotation. Combing his eye for nature and leaves, flowers and birds with a little Irish whimsy, Jim's latest "Living Metal' creations stress detail and movement.

Amy's Glass

Amy Kappler ~ Dripping Springs, TX ~ glass artist

Amy is a mentor and guide and I thank her for her support. Amy is the successful owner and artist behind Hippos Eating Alligators. This is Amy's on-line store (both retail and wholesale) that is an outlet for her amazing dichroic fused glass jewelry and custom designed findings. You will be rewarded with many forms of beauty if you visit www.hipposeatingalligators.com.

She is inspired by many painters and mentions Edward Hopper, Chuck Close, and Andrew Wyeth if asked. As she says, "I paint because... I need to."

Phil Beck ~ Eugene, OR ~ sculptor & metal fabricator
Phil Beck started playing with metal when he was about 10 and went to the local Blacksmith shop with his father. Phil found his inspiration in a scrap bin he passed everyday without noticing it much. As he says, "one day I passed the bin and noticed this piece that had some really nice lines (curves actually). It took looking at it 3 times before I finally pulled it out. That piece turned into the Hanging Wind Catcher [available at sol'stice], which is still one of the most popular pieces I make, and one of my favorites. After that nothing was safe, there was great joy in passing the scrap bin and going "oooh there's a cool piece."

Copper Potter Trellis w/ large glass marbles
Leslie Renfro~ Dripping Springs, TX ~ metal artisan
Leslie creates classic garden trellises and arbors with a whimsical edge by adding twisted and spiraled copper of varying gages subtly combined with glass beads, marbles, and an occasional charm or two.   She works predominantly with copper, but also crafts some of her pieces from galvanized steel offering a more economical way to add an elegant touch to any garden space.  Both metals will last for generations and will become more beautiful with time and exposure to the elements.   Leslie's Hill Country Trellises and Arbors can be custom made to fit any landscape or garden setting.   Installation is available.   Leslie has endeared herself to us with her passion for our vision and her modest approach to her own art.   Please join us in the celebration of her work.

Color is one of the defining aspects of Ann's work. Her multi-media paintings with an expressionistic flare are vibrant and exciting. Ann is jazzed by the artisan aspect of being an artist. She loves to feel the texture and the shape of the materials she uses. Ann became interested in fused glass as a way to get custom tile for her mosaic work. She so enjoyed the work that goes into making fused glass and the beauty of the finished pieces that she created a line of coasters that were sold internationally through Wimberly Glass Works' 2005 catalog. We are pleased to be among the galleries to carry Ann's fused glass creations. To learn more about Ann's work go to www.artbyaesoto.com .
